RTM Approves Funding for GPD Body Cameras

On Monday night, the Representative Town Meeting approved $359,298 for the purchase of police body cameras for the Greenwich Police Department. The funds were approved by a vote of 182 in favor, with 17 opposed and 16 abstentions, and will purchase 160 cameras from Axon, the company that supplies tasers to the department.

Updates from the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation

BET Chair Michael Mason gives an update from the BET's first scheduled regular meeting since the summer. He touched on the routine applications the board approved this week, the special group formed to look at the town's fund balance and debt policy, as well as the ongoing fire study and upcoming meetings with the First Selectman and Town Administrator.

Water Wheelchair Gives People With Disabilities More Access at Greenwich Point

Last summer, the Town of Greenwich, with help from the Greenwich Lions Club, installed a beach mat at Greenwich Point that allows residents with disabilities and parents with strollers or carts the ability to walk on a sturdy platform all the way down to the waterline. Now, beachgoers with disabilities can utilize a multi-function beach wheelchair to actually go into the water and enjoy some fun in the sun. On Monday, the Greenwich Lions Club, First Selectman Fred Camillo, and Greenwich Parks and Recreation Director Joe Siciliano, officially christened the new wheelchair at the Susie Baker Pavilion at Greenwich Point.

Polo star Aguerre leads White Birch to East Coast Open Championship title in stunning 13-10 win against Black Hound DE

Last Tuesday was certainly a day to remember as White Birch, the illustrious Greenwich Polo Club high-goal team known for its grit, gold charisma and gold standard triumphantly clinched the 2020 East Coast Open title in remarkable style, claiming a 13-10 win over Black Hound DE, the Teflon-tough squad based out of the New York City-metropolitan area.

Greenwich Looks to Improve Census Numbers

The final push to complete this year's census is on, as local and state officials are making rounds to encourage residents to get counted before the Sept. 30 deadline. On Monday, Lt. Gov Susan Bysiewicz joined Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo, and State Reps. Harry Arora (R-151) and Stephen Meskers (D-150) to knock on doors at Greenwich Close Apartments across from Town Hall. Tyler Fairbairn, the town's Director of Community Development and the head of Greenwich's Complete Count Committee, was part of the group, too, along with Greenwich Communities Executive Director, Tony Johnson.
