The Greenwich September 11th Memorial will be holding the third annual Remembrance Service, on Monday, Sept. 11 beginning at 5 p.m., rain or shine. The event is open to the public and all are welcomed.

“The memory of September 11th continues to inspire us to serve our neighbors, our communities and our country. The tragic events of that day will be remembered with respect and with the coming together of family members, first responders, town officials and the community.” said Wells Noonan a Greenwich September 11th Memorial board member and sister of Robert W. Noonan, who sadly perished in the north tower on that fateful day.

In addition to Town and State officials, this year participants will include; Senator Scott Frantz, Greenwich High School Chamber Singers, the Honor Guards from Greenwich Fire, Police, EMS, as well as from the Boys and Girls Club. Invocations will be led by clergy members; Reverend Heather Sinclair (First Methodist Church) and Rabbi Mitchell Hurvitz (Temple Sholom).

Parking will be limited at Cos Cob Park. TAG (Transportation Association of Greenwich) will be providing complimentary shuttle bus service from the surrounding area public parking lots.

The Board would like to thank the following people and organizations for their support and commitment to remembering the mothers, fathers, sons, daughters who left us on that tragic day: Stephanie Dunn Ashley, Lt. Jim Bonney (Bagpiper), Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, Chris Fiore (Bugler), Greenwich Emergency Medical Services and Explorer Post, Greenwich Fire Department, Greenwich High School Chamber Singers, Greenwich Parks and Recreation, Greenwich Police Department, Riverside Yacht Club, Sam Bridge Nursey and Greenwich Houses, Sebass Events and Entertainment, and Transportation Association of Greenwich (list in formation). Each victim left their families and friends a legacy of love and ultimate sacrifice. We honor and salute them all.
