
James F. Ryan, resident of Greenwich CT, died Sunday, Oct. 21, at his home. He was 92 years old.
Mr. Ryan was born and lived in Port Chester, N.Y. before moving to Greenwich. His early career included Interior Design and Decorating for customers around the country. He became fascinated with lighting design and opened a retail shop, rue Faubourg St. Honore at 44 West Putnam Ave. in Greenwich, catering to decorators as well as retail customers. He remained in that location for over 55 years, until his recent illness. He offered a unique blend of antique, reproduction and custom lighting as well as fireplace equipment. Custom designs were his passion.
Mr. Ryan loved to dance and was an avid skier and sailor in his earlier years. He was a frequent visitor to the local beaches since he also loved swimming. Jim will be remembered as a true artist, perfectionist and a gentleman. He is survived by relatives Linda and Kevin Roberts.
Visiting hours were Oct. 28 at the Knapp Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Paul’s Church Oct. 29.
