Gerald E. Lovely of Greenwich, CT and Grenada, West Indies passed away peacefully Aug. 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born March 21,1934, Jerry was the son of William R. Lovely and Marie Ryan Lovely of Glens Falls, N.Y.

Jerry enlisted in the Navy after graduating from High School and was a veteran of the Korean War. He served under Admiral Arleigh Burke, Commander Destroyer Forces Atlantic Fleet. He graduated Salutatorian from Bryant College, Providence, R.I., in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration. During his career, Jerry was a Business Executive at HH Brown Shoe Company and was the Founder and President of several other enterprises.

Jerry had no greater joy than his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a quick wit, a hearty laugh and an infectious smile. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, but when at home in Greenwich or the Caribbean was a generous host to his many friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Catherine Lovely; four children, Scott (Tanya) Lovely of Greenwich, Gregory of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Gayle (Bradley) Johnson of Richmond, Va., and Christopher (Barbara) Lovely of Greenwich; a brother, John (Carol) Lovely of Newport, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Michael Lovely, Alexandra Johnson, Caitlyn Lovely, Parker Johnson, Spencer Lovely, Hayden Johnson and William Lovely; and nine nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his parents; his brother William R. Lovely, Jr; and two nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with a service at 11:30 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
