On Friday, May 11, Celebrating Hope will honor its sixth year by showcasing the power of music. The annual Greenwich gala will give voice to the 77,000 Connecticut residents living with Alzheimer’s disease through song. Broadway star Abby Mueller (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Kinky Boots) will debut the original song, Life Is Beautiful, created and recorded by members of The Living Voice GAP (Giving Alzheimer’s Purpose) Project, a collaboration of the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter and The Living Voice Group.

The moving ballad, Life is Beautiful, captures the truth, the pain, the challenges and the hopes and dreams of those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. “I am honored to debut this song and to perform it for the Celebrating Hope guests,” explains Abby Mueller. “It is my personal tribute to the more than five million Americans who are currently living with Alzheimer’s,” Mueller adds.

The song’s composer, Beth Styles, was committed to bringing authenticity to the project. “I lost my father to Alzheimer’s a few years ago,” the Stamford-based producer explained. “The memories of our loved ones lost to the disease live in our hearts and life is beautiful when we remember them,” Styles offered.

Celebrating Hope 2018 will be held from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the Riverside Yacht Club and proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter. Since its inception, Celebrating Hope has raised more than $1 million for Alzheimer’s and dementia care and research. The evening will include cocktails, dinner in a lounge setting and entertainment by The What Up Funk Band’s seven-piece ensemble. Guests will enjoy multiple opportunities to bid on unique experiences and luxury items featured in the extensive silent and live auctions and are encouraged to wear the Alzheimer’s signature color purple to the event.

Event tickets ($400 each) are available for purchase online, 501auctions.com/celebratinghope or via phone at 860-828-2828.
