YWCA Greenwich’s annual gala is one of the social highlights of the season. This year’s event on Friday, April 6, will have a new image: “Live, Laugh Love, an Evening of Empowerment.” Under the theme “The Secret Garden” the YWCA promises a festive, fun event, featuring dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions with Lisa Kerney, ESPN sports anchor as Master of Ceremonies and Terry Betteridge as auctioneer. Music will be provided by DJ April Larken.

The 2018 Live Laugh Love Gala co-chairs are Brooke Bohnsack, Mairead Finn, Lauren Hagerty and Nisha Hurst.

“We believe the rebranding of this event, previously The Persimmon Ball, is less formal, more festive, and captures the energy around women’s issues in an uplifting and contemporary manner,” said Mary Lee Kiernan, President and CEO, YWCA Greenwich.

The Greenwich Hyatt Regency ballroom will be transformed into an English garden. Proceeds from this event will provide scholarships for YWCA education, athletic and aquatics youth programs, as well as YWCA Domestic Abuse Services. Domestic abuse is the most reported violent crime in Greenwich and YWCA Greenwich is the only designated and accredited provider of domestic abuse services in town. YWCA Domestic Abuse Services operates a 24/7 hotline (203-622-0003); life-saving crisis intervention and safety planning; child and adult counseling; emergency offsite shelter; criminal and civil court services; and violence prevention education for elementary, middle and high school students. All services are free to anyone who reaches out for help.
