Wild Weather to Hit Greenwich, Surrounding Areas Sunday

Heavy rains and blustery conditions in Greenwich will be on tap throughout Sunday and into Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued both a Flash Flood Watch, as well as a High Wind Warning.

The Flash Flood Watch is currently in effect and will last until 6 a.m. Monday morning. According to the NWS, a low pressure system will be tracking to the area and will interact with tropical moisture. That will produce heavy rain and the National Weather Service believes that two to four inches of rain, along with thunderstorms are possible.

Starting at 6 p.m., the National Weather Service will issue a High Wind Warning, which will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.

Winds will be Southeast 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour. Widespread power outages are expected and the damaging winds could take down trees and power lines.
