The Junior League of Greenwich (JLG) is now accepting applications for Teen Ambassadors in its Positively More program.
Positively More works to help young preteen girls (ages 11 & 12) gain insight and understanding about relevant topics and have lots of fun along the way! Teen Ambassadors (10th–12th grade female students) volunteer in the program as shepherds to the girls, gaining leadership skills and community service hours.
Teen Ambassadors attend a mandatory training session on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Junior League of Greenwich Headquarters, 231 East Putnam Ave. Teen Ambassadors will learn how to:
• Make the girls feel comfortable and included
• Answer any questions from the preteens
• Assist professionals and JLG members in the workshops
• Help ease the preteens into feeling safe in a new place with a group of new friends
The Positively More program offers four sessions on Saturdays with Teen Ambassadors participating from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Teen Ambassadors are encouraged to participate in all four sessions in 2018, once training is completed.
After a day of fun and engaging workshops, the 11 and 12-year-olds gather around a panel of the Teen Ambassadors. This wrap up provides a platform for 11 & 12-year-old girls to ask any questions that came to mind during the day. Topics have historically included friendship woes, dating questions, fashion concerns, and conflict with friends, parents & siblings.
