The Greenwich Art Society presents its 100th Annual Members Exhibition, a milestone exhibition comprised of artwork by Greenwich Art Society members. The show takes place at The Bendheim Gallery at Greenwich Art Center from April 28 through June 1. There will be a public reception on Friday, April 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with a VIP preview from 5:30 to 6:30. The Art Center/Bendheim Gallery is located at 299 Greenwich Ave., on the 2nd floor.

The Greenwich Art Society 100th Annual Members Exhibition will exhibit a diverse range of works by its members and will be juried by a curator from one of the major NYC museums. The event draws fine artists from the entire tri-state region, creating a highly competitive venue. Many of the Society’s artists/members are locally and regionally recognized for their work and have shown in galleries and art fairs in NYC and beyond.

The juror, Kelly Baum, is the Cynthia Hazen Polsky and Leon Polsky Curator of Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has been working as a curator for seventeen years, first at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, then at the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin, and later at the Princeton University Art Museum, where she was the founding curator of modern and contemporary art. Kelly has organized dozens of exhibitions on twentieth and twenty-first century art, most recently Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible (2016), co-curated with Andrea Bayer at the Met Breuer. Her writing has been published widely in exhibition catalogues, anthologies, and scholarly journals. Currently, Kelly is planning an exhibition for fall 2017 titled Delirious: Art at the Limits of Reason, 1950-1980.

Anna Patalano, president of the Greenwich Art Society says: “To mark this historic event, we will be hosting a special VIP preview of the exhibition featuring a private viewing of the show led by Kelly Baum, the curator and juror, who will attend so that she can talk about how she envisioned the show. Also, the show’s award-winning artists will attend for a meet and greet with the VIP’s and juror.

All works can be purchased by contacting the Greenwich Art Society at 203-629-1533 between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or by emailing greenwichartsociety@verizon.net. For more information, visit greenwichartsociety.org
