Diamond Hill United Methodist Church of Cos Cob has won the Second Annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Challenge to Benefit Neighbor to Neighbor.

First inspired by a friendly competition between Diamond Hill UMC and Little Pub last year to see who could gather the most donations of peanut butter and jelly, this has become an annual event. It helps provide food to Neighbor to Neighbor, a local non-profit and food pantry. The food drive also assists in raising awareness of Neighbor to Neighbor’s pivotal role as a support center in the community for food, clothing, and basic living essentials for people in need.

Diamond Hill UMC collected 151 jars of peanut butter and Little Pub collected 127 jars of jelly. In the spirit of the friendly competition, Little Pub will purchase an additional 24 jars of jelly to provide a matching amount to Neighbor to Neighbor. To honor the terms of the competition, Little Pub will be supplying wings for the church’s homecoming celebration in September.

Rev. Carol Bloom, pastor of Diamond Hill UMC states, “The real winner here is Neighbor to Neighbor and the people they serve. We just found a fun way to help.” Little Pub General Manager Bill Taylor says, “Next year, we’re coming for them!”
