
The Friends of the Byram Shubert Library sponsor a variety of free programs for the younger set during school vacation week. The activities will be held from Saturday, Feb. 6 through Feb. 13 in the Friends Community Room of the library located at 21 Mead Avenue.
On Saturday, Feb. 6 at 12 p.m., the Friends celebrate “Take Your Child to the Library Day” with an old standby: “A Book and a Slice.” Residents are invited to come with their children, find a quiet place, choose a book and read together. Participants will be rewarded with pizza.
“Frogs, Bugs and Animals with Jason” take center stage on Monday, Feb. 8 at 10:30 a.m., offering a chance for interactive fun with a variety of small creatures.
At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, Ken Dolan presents “Star Wars Tai Chi.” At 1 p.m., players of all ages can have “Fun with Chess with Master Rich.” The chess equipment is provided.
On Wednesday, Feb. 10, 10:30 a.m., the Robert Rogers Puppet Theater presents “Young Hercules,” a chance for kids to see the art and skill of puppetry and enjoy a story that brings mythology alive.
Robert Rogers returns on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. to lead a hands-on workshop in puppet making.
Children will have the opportunity to learn yoga poses when Kristen DeGroat visits the library for “Yoga for Everyone” on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10:30 a.m.
