There was pink everywhere you looked today at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, and for a good reason- the Breast Cancer Alliance held it’s 20th annual Luncheon and Fashion Show.
“I am just so overwhelmed. I think I cried five times today. Happy tears,” said BCA President Yonni Wattenmaker.
And those happy tears were shared by many in the room. Breast cancer survivor and television reporter Anne Thompson spoke to the crowd of almost 900 and MSNBC reporter Andrea Mitchell sent her well wishes via video.
But the highlight of the afternoon, as always, was the fashion show. Models decked out in Richard’s fall fashions walked the runway, and then it was time for the big finale.
“We are celebrating all of those who’ve won, and we are praying for all of those still fighting,” said Wattenmaker.
Breast cancer survivors strut their stuff on the catwalk to celebrate survivorship.
“I don’t know if there was a dry eye in the house when it ended. That’s what it’s about. There’s so much love in this room,” said Wattenamker.
BCA President Yonni Wattenmaker says the luncheon raised over one million dollars for the organization.
“Ultimately, we hope to find a cure,” said Wattenmaker.
