Survivors Swing Band Performs at Greenwich Western Civic Center

Now is your chance to see The Survivors Swing Band in your own back yard in Greenwich at the Western Civic Center. Grab a blanket and a picnic dinner on Saturday, July 11 from 5 – 6:30 p.m., and watch the seven piece group perform “oldie but goodie” hits.

The group was formed at the Wallingford (CT) Senior Center where the group would rehearse and play for the residents. They eventually began calling themselves the “Survivors” in acknowledgement of some of the original band members who had passed away in the meantime, as well as in recognition of those beloved old melodies that remained favorites despite the passage of the decades.

And, as they say, the rest is history: The Survivors Swing Band has now performed countless times at malls, libraries, schools, restaurants, municipal auditoriums, gazebos, backyard parties, wedding celebrations, and even a hot dog stand.

This event is sponsored by the Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department. The concert will be moved indoors if there is rain. For more information on special events or concerts visit Greenwichct.org, or call 203-618-7649.
