The Greenwich Board of Education has approved Scheme D for the New Lebanon School Construction after the Board of Selectmen asked them to reconsider the plan last Friday. Board of Education Chairman Barbara O’Neill is pleased that the plan can move forward with the approval of Scheme D.

“We realized that this is the plan that the Selectman wanted and voting for that was the way to go forward. The presentation tonight and the vision of D is really very exciting, it addresses all of the community issues like the fields. I think we can build a really great school on that spot and I think people saw that and that’s why we voted for it. I’m delighted that it’s unanimous. I was a B person and then I realized the Selectman didn’t want B, so you have to face reality. You go with D and you make it the best school possible,” said Barbara O’Neill.

Architect, Peter Gisolfi, made several changes to Scheme D in hopes that it would become more appealing to the Board of Education and Scheme B supporters.

“The revised Scheme D keeps some of the advantages of Scheme B which is being up on high ground. It eliminated the original disadvantages of Scheme D which was the length of it and that access road on both sides which was long and expansive,” said Peter Gisolfi.
