On Saturday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m., Second Congregational Church will host the 16th Annual Valentine Gala to benefit Heart Care International.

The evening is designed to treat the female attendees to a memorable evening out, hosted by the Men’s Fellowship at Second Congregational Church.

The Gala will kick off with a social hour, followed by a gourmet sit-down dinner, created by parishioner Chef Chip Evans. The highlight of the evening will be the entertainment provided by the “Just For Men’s Chorus,” under the direction of Second Congregational Church’s music director, Alexander Constantine. This year’s theme is “All You Need Is Love,” which will feature love songs from the 60’s-80’s.

According to Alexander, “this year’s show will feature a special guest star component that is sure to delight our audience.” “Our palette of songs are a bit more on the ‘contemporary’ side this year, which we think our audience will really enjoy.

Heart Care International was founded by Dr. Robert Michler in 1992 as an outreach program of Second Congregational Church. In 2005 it had grown to form its own entity and was offering pro bono surgical and medical care to children and teenagers with heart defects in less fortunate countries in Central and South America. Heart Care International also trains and educates local doctors in the areas where they have worked so that their skills are shared and utilized long after the Heart Care International doctors have returned from their medical missions. To date, Heart Care International has saved the lives of children in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.

All proceeds for this event will benefit Heart Care International and their continued efforts across the globe.
