Senior Tommy Passamano powered Greenwich High School’s baseball team at the plate and on the pitcher’s mound in a recent win against Brien McMahon.
Passamano went 3 for 4, including a home run and collected four RBIs to lead the Cardinals to an 8-3 road victory over Brien McMahon in an FCIAC matchup held on April 12.
A right-hander, Passamano got the start on the mound for the Cardinals against the Senators and delivered. He pitched six innings, allowing three runs, while registering four strikeouts to earn the win.
Junior left fielder Nick D’Andrea was 2 for 3 with one RBI and two runs scored, while senior third baseman Troy Goodwin went 2 for 4 with two runs scored for Greenwich, which finished the game with nine hits.
Emmy Bulis, a junior, who started in right field, had one hit, one walk, two RBIs and two runs scored, while senior first baseman John McHugh had one hit for the Cardinals, who scored three runs in the first inning, two in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh.
McHugh pitched a scoreless seventh inning to close out the win for the Cardinals. On April 14, Greenwich dropped a tough 5-4 decision to non-conference opponent Immaculate.
McHugh hit a home run and walked twice, senior catcher Cody Baker went 2 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored, Passamano had one hit and one RBI and junior Jake Melley drove in a run for GHS.
D’Andrea had one hit and one run scored and Bulis had one hit for Greenwich, which scored one run each in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Immaculate scored two runs in the sixth and seventh and one run in the eight inning for the extra-inning victory.
McHugh received the start on the mound and allowed only two earned runs on four hits in six innings of work. He also struck out four batters. Goodwin yielded three runs his two innings on the mound, but none of the runs were earned.
Greenwich, which was defeated today (April 15) against visiting Fairfield Ludlowe, has a record of 2-5, heading into Wednesday’s home game versus FCIAC foe St. Joseph.
