Teddy’s Ride Set for October 13

The second annual Teddy’s Ride, will take place on Sunday, October 13 (9am sign- in/10am ride). Teddy’s Ride is a 5 mile casual bike ride through Bruce Park in Greenwich, starting and ending in the Island Beach Parking Lot.

This bike ride honors the legacy of Teddy Balkind and his love of mountain biking, and celebrates participation and safety in sports. Garden Catering generously provides morning refreshments and Bax Cycles is on site for tech support and is a co-sponsor of a high end bike for silent auction in conjunction with Cannondale.

“The first ever Teddy’s Ride was a great event and fantastic opportunity to get everyone together who knew and loved Teddy. Watching everyone ride off into the park and return with bright smiles meant so much to us and was a real goosebump moment. It showed exactly the kind of spirit and joy with which Teddy lived his life”, said Teddy’s parents Buck and Leslie Balkind.

This event benefits the Teddy Balkind Charitable Foundation, granting funds to local grassroots organizations that Teddy was connected to.

“The authenticity of our first inaugural event last year was heartwarming. We raised over $27,000 for The Teddy Balkind Charitable Foundation and hope to exceed that amount this year” said event founders Hillary Lammens and Sophie Pelletier-Martinelli.

Garden Catering, Bax Cycles, ONS, The NY Rangers, Mid-Fairfield Hockey, Greenwich Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Brunswick and St. Luke’s schools are all repeat sponsors of this year’s event. New sponsors include Rise Brewing Co, Colony Grill, Forme Barre, Warroad Hockey Co., Cannondale and Giro Sport Design.
