Greenwich Rotary Welcomes New Leadership

The Rotary Club of Greenwich celebrated a significant leadership transition at the Riverside Club, with a lively event marking the induction of Agathe Likoba as the new president. The evening kicked off with a red carpet entrance hosted by Shelli Stelmak, creating an air of celebration. Despite outgoing President Sheila Goggin’s absence, her heartfelt video message set a warm tone.

Key figures played pivotal roles throughout the night. Peter Orszulak led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an invocation from Jenny Bixby. Sally Parris, as master of ceremonies, added elegance to the event, while Joe Bonoit provided a detailed history of the Club. Angela Hyland reaffirmed the Rotary Four-Way Test, emphasizing the club’s ethical standards.

VIPs, including First Selectman Fred Camillo and Senator Ryan Fazio, highlighted the event’s importance. District Governor Robert Friend officially inducted Agathe Likoba, ushering in a new chapter for the Club. Also present were Goldie James, President of the Westport Rotary Club; Per Trellevik, President of the Woodbridge Rotary Club; and Mark Davis from the Rotary Club of Wallingford.

Diane Fox presented gifts sponsored by the Trolley Museum to young contributors Angélique and Riley. Stephanie Phillips, District Governor-Elect for 2025-2026, inducted the new officers, reinforcing their dedication to Rotary values and community service.

In her acceptance speech, Likoba reflected on the club’s rich history and outlined her vision for the year, focusing on unity, respect, and impactful service. The event, further enriched by DJ Journey’s entertainment and coordinated by interns Jakob Ilyaich and Pam McKingue, showcased the Greenwich Rotary Club’s commitment to service and community, promising an exciting year a head under Likoba’s leadership.
