The Greenwich Department of Human Services Fund (GDHS Fund) is stepping up to ensure local children have proper footwear with their upcoming “Boots & Shoes” fundraiser. This initiative aims to raise funds to provide DSW gift cards to children between the ages of 5 and 15 from low-income families. These gift cards will be redeemable online and in store at any DSW location, allowing children to choose shoes that fit their needs and style.
For many years, the Greenwich Department of Human Services partnered with the Salvation Army to offer this essential program. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, that partnership concluded at the end of 2023. Recognizing the ongoing need, the GDHS Fund has taken the lead in organizing “Boots & Shoes” to bridge the funding gap. In August 2023, 150 Greenwich children received a $50 DSW gift card.
“At the GDHS Fund, we understand the importance of providing our children with the resources they need to thrive,” said Blaise Punturo who is the GDHS Fund’s President. “Proper footwear is not just a matter of comfort; it’s essential for their health and participation in activities.”
The GDHS Fund is seeking donations from the Greenwich community to support “Boots & Shoes.”
