Linhart Dentistry, the esteemed family-run dentist practice whose headquarters is based out of the Helmsley Building on 230 Park Avenue in Manhattan, has been making quite a splash upon the Greenwich community ever since it first opened at 40 East Putnam Road in Cos Cob in 2021.
On any given day, the Linhart Dentistry Greenwich office, opened in February 2021, seems to be bustling with people and with good reason, as its reputation is that of a top-rate oral-care destination featuring a dedicated and talented staff committed to providing its clients with a comprehensive range of restorative, cosmetic and implant services in gold-standard fashion.
The most distinctive thing about Linhart Dentistry, though, is its remarkable commitment to its patients, certainly much of the reason as to why it also has gained so much traction as a go-to oral care hotspot in and around the Greenwich as well as Fairfield and Westchester County areas over the past several years.
Right from the moment one walks through the doors of Linhart Dentistry in town, located on the second floor of a classic red brick building situated across the street from Splash Car Wash and Post Road Auto Body Shop, the wonderful energy can be felt.
Immediately, clients are welcomed by the friendly members of its staff, usually Joanie or Amber, who help them get situated and settled in the waiting area prior to getting their dental work done.
This space, meanwhile, is all about great energy and features cool furniture and light fixtures as well as eye-catching wall décor such as an aerial-shot photograph of New York City and an antique vintage poster of a Binaca mouthwash ad from the mid 20th century, among other things.
Shortly thereafter, clients are lead down a hallway to one of its spacious treatment rooms to get their work done, another part of the office that again, emanates a warm and welcoming feeling.
Each of these rooms, totaling four (CHECK) in all, feature state-of-the-art chairs along with an extensive range of technical equipment such as lasers, scanners and X-Ray devices so that Dr. Jan Linhart, Linhart Dentistry’s founder, his son, Dr. Zachary Linhart, and their dedicated team of dentists, dental hygienists and assistants can provide patients with optimal service.
“We want people to be happy and take every measure to provide them with excellent treatment,” said Dr. Zachary Linhart, who, along with his father, Dr. Jan Linhart, who founded the practice in 1979, are responsible for steering this practice. “Oral care is such a huge part of general health and it is linked so intimately to everything in the body.”
Specifically the efforts and services of Linhart Dentistry include restorations, laser whitening, dental implants, crowns, bridges and porcelain veneers and other offerings, skills that certainly seem to be much appreciated by their extensive and enthusiastic clientele.
“Everyone who works at Linhart Dentistry is so welcoming and pleasant,” said Janet Thomas. “Dr. Zachary Linhart is the dentist who usually attends to my needs. I’ve had dental implants by him as well as routine fillings or crowns. He is very personable and professional.”
A success story stemming from the goal of helping people
Back in 1979, Linhart Dentistry was first opened by Dr. Jan Linhart at the Helmsley Building in New York with the intent of providing his clients with the most effective and finest oral work possible, something he and is team have clearly been achieving based upon the practice’s success over the past 40-plus years.
In fact, since opening, Linhart Dentistry has come to be known as one of the most esteemed oral-care practices in the New York City-metropolitan area, having earned a stellar reputation due to the fact that the Linharts and their staff have been performing first-rate dental care and hygiene as well as making sure its clients are taken care of on a personal level.
“Our equipment is definitely high tech,” said Dr. Jan Linhart, who lives in Purchase, New York with his wife of more than 30 years, Ellen. “But our traditional approach is warm and friendly.”
Certainly, Dr. Jan Linhart has a fascinating story that helped lead him to the formation of Linhart Dentistry.
As a child, he grew up in Prague during the Communist era, a time when he learned many things including the importance of establishing good doctor/patient relationships through the example of his father, Dr. Ernest Linhart MD, a well-respected and accomplished dermatologist.
In turn, these values helped inspire the foundation for the Linhart Dentistry practice, something that has been passed on to Dr. Jan Linhart’s now-grown son, Dr. Zachary Linhart, a main operative with his father at both the Manhattan and Greenwich Linhart Dentistry offices as well.
“My grandfather had a great practice. The dedication to he had to his work and patients, as well as his whole way of life, has had a major impact on both my father and myself,” said Dr. Zachary Linhart, who grew up in Purchase, New York and resides in Old Greenwich with his wife, Gena, and their three young children, Scarlett, 7, Wilder, 5 and Maddox, who is three months old. “Dentistry is a great profession and the most important thing about it is that we get to help people.”
In 1966, Dr. Jan Linhart moved from Prague to the U.S. where he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Russian from Bowdoin College in 1975.
Four years later, in 1979, Dr. Jan Linhart earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry.
In 1980, he completed a General Practice Residency Program at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, New Jersey, the same time period when he opened his offices in Manhattan.
Dedicating most of his time and energy to building and establishing his practice, Dr. Jan Linhart’s hard work soon started to pay off as Linhart Dentistry started to become known as a premier oral care hotspot in and around the New York City metropolitan area.
During the 1990s, Linhart Dentistry continued to thrive as Dr. Jan Linhart continued to build his practice with a growing staff of dentists, hygienists and assistants, among other things.
During this period, Linhart and his wife, Ellen were also busy raising their two sons, Alexander, who today works in financial technology and Zachary, who went on to become a dentist alongside his father, at their home in Purchase, New York.
A main oral-care destination
Today, the Linhart Dentistry offices in both Manhattan and Cos Cob are as popular as ever, something both Dr. Jan Linhart and Dr. Zachary Linhart are excited about.
“It’s been exciting,” said Dr. Zachary Linhart. “Having offices in New York and Greenwich is something my father and I had talked about for awhile. It’s been amazing seeing it all happen.”
Currently, the Greenwich office of Linhart Dentistry has a four-member staff of doctor/dentists, two hygienists and a periodontist as well as a dedicated support staff.
“It’s a team,” said Dr. Zachary Linhart. “Everyone works together to contribute in order to insure that the experience of the patients is always a good one.”
Meanwhile, the Linhart family is all about a great energy outside of the office as well.
Dr. Jan Linhart and Dr. Zachary Linhart, in fact, are both devoted hockey-ites, especially as it is a sport in which they are both quite accomplished.
“Hockey is a big sport in the Czech Republic. My dad has always loved it and growing up, had played at Bowdoin College and also for the Czech Republic at the Junior Olympics,” said Dr. Zachary Linhart, who grew up playing hockey with the Rye Rangers in New York. “It’s a sport our family grew up with and enjoys a lot.”
The Linharts are also very involved with the local Greenwich community in terms of being part and contributing to its many charitable and local organizations, something that means the world to them.
“We want to be as much a part of this community as we can,” said Dr. Zachary Linhart. “Greenwich is a great town and we love it here.”
Dr. Zachary Linhart also said he and his family enjoy getting out on the town and like to spend time at Greenwich Point as well as frequent local eateries such as the Cos Cobber, Sweet Pea’s, Joey B’s and other establishments.
“There’s such a amazing sense of community here and it’s always nice to run into people you know,” said Dr. Zachary Linhart. “It’s especially nice to see people I know from the office.”
In terms of the future, Linhart Dentistry, which also features a whole line of dental products including toothpaste and lip balm, is looking to continue to further build its relationships with individuals in and around the community by providing them with the best oral care possible.
Clearly, this seems to be something that is viable, especially in considering how much of an impact Linhart Dentistry has been playing in the lives of so many individuals both in the community and beyond.
