Brunswick’s regular season came to a close on Friday evening with a 4-1 victory over Trinity-Pawling, clinching a spot in the NEPSAC playoffs. The Bruins scored a goal in each of the first two periods before adding two in the third, including an empty-net goal to seal the victory.
Senior A-cap Eli Friedman led the scoring charge with two goals, while juniors Brendan Giles and Sean Gibbons also found the back of the net in the final frame. However, the star of the game was senior co-captain Brendan Holahan, who made numerous highlight-reel saves to keep T-P off the board until the final few minutes of the game.
Despite an extended 5-on-3 advantage for Trinity-Pawling in the second period, Holahan stood strong and made key saves to preserve the Bruins’ two-goal lead. The win marks Brunswick’s ninth in a row and their 20th of the season.
While it’s still unclear which tournament the Bruins will be competing in, and where and when they will be playing, the team will find out on Sunday morning. Round one of the playoffs will take place on Wednesday. Brunswick will look to carry their momentum into the postseason as they vie for a championship title.
Stay tuned for more updates after tomorrow’s slate of games.
