Barbara Ann Rawn passed away at her Connecticut home on September 14, 2022. She was dearly loved by her family and many friends, who benefited from her countless acts of thoughtful kindness.

Mrs. Rawn was born in Oceanside, CA in 1928 to Ira and Norma Brickson. While attending Occidental College, she met Stanley Rawn, whom she would later marry, at a Caltech dance. A lover of adventure and travel, she took her first teaching job in rural Hawaii. She continued her teaching career until the birth of her first child. With Stan, she raised three children while deftly managing frequent moves throughout the U.S. until the family eventually settled in Cos Cob, Connecticut.

She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Greenwich (serving as a deaconess at one point), and was also involved in many volunteer activities, including teaching English as a second language, and guiding at the Greenwich Audubon Center. In later years, she and Stan spent their winters at Smoke Tree Ranch (STR) in Palm Springs, CA, where she enjoyed nature walks in the desert and participating in STR community activities. She loved the outdoors, and enjoyed swimming, tennis, hiking and tai chi. She was gregarious and naturally gifted at connecting with people. A lifelong learner, she was enthusiastic about a wide range of topics, ranging from languages to natural history. She traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally, and was very interested in diverse cultures.

Mrs. Rawn is survived by her children: James and his partner Glenda Manzi, Robert, and Carol Lee and her husband Tim Mackey; and eight grandchildren: Brian, Amy, and Eric Rawn; Evan, Niall, and Donagh Rawn; and Brita and Anna Mackey. Her husband, Stanley R. Rawn, passed away in 2010.

Her life will be celebrated at the First Congregational Church of Greenwich on October 15 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the First Congregational Church of Greenwich, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, or EarthJustice.
