Independence Day Association of Greenwich will hold a flag raising ceremony to celebrate Independence Day on Monday, July 4 at 9:00 am, in front of Greenwich Town Hall.
Members of the Sound Beach Community Band will perform live music, opening with the Assembly Trumpet Call. The Greenwich Police Department Honor Guard will conduct ceremonial rifle fire, followed by opening remarks, introduction of dignitaries and a message from the Town of Greenwich by First Selectman Fred Camillo.
Greenwich Council Boy Scouts will present the Thirteen Colonial Flags and Arch Street Teens will recite I Am the Flag, followed by a flag raising with First Responders and members of the Greenwich Police Department, Fire Fighters and GEMS.
Greenwich Boy and Girl Scouts will recite The Pledge of Allegiance and read from the Declaration of Independence.
Greenwich Settlers and Revolutionary War Patriots will be recognized and their descendants invited to stand. The names of citizens of the Town of Greenwich who gave their lives during the Revolutionary War will be read, followed by a Moment of Silence, 21-Gun Salute and Echo Taps performed by Sound Beach Community Band.
Current and past members of the Armed Forces will be asked to stand as we sing This Is My Country, stand and wave American flags as we all sing God Bless America.
Refreshments including America’s Birthday Cake will be served following the ceremony.
