
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Candee Ives Weed, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Trinity Sunday, June 12, 2022 while at Nathaniel Witherell for skilled nursing care.
Born in Greenwich, CT to the late Edward Carter Ives and Cecilia Gray Ives, she lived with her family in a farmhouse on North Maple Avenue and Lake Street. She attended Greenwich Country Day School, Miss Hall’s School, Briarcliff College and Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and went on to serve her community as a nurse for parts of three decades.
After her marriage to Robert R. Keady of Bryn Mawr, PA, she lived in Wayne, PA where she raised three sons. Candee later married, and was predeceased by, Walter H. Weed III of Greenwich, CT. With her return to Greenwich, Candee reconnected with old friends and established many new friendships that supported her through her remaining years. She volunteered in many organizations including: Greenwich Hospital, First Presbyterian Church, Nathaniel Witherell, Family Centers, and Community Centers Inc. She was a proud blood donor who was acknowledged by the Red Cross for donating over 200 times. Candee was a member of Indian Harbor Yacht Club, enjoyed tennis, bridge, church, nature, and time spent with family.
Candee and her delicious deviled eggs will be greatly missed. She is survived by: three sons and their spouses – Kevin and Jacqui Keady of Folsom, CA, Michael and Monica Keady of Darien, CT, and Robert and Diane Keady Jr. of Cranford, NJ; along with four granddaughters, a great-grandson, and four stepdaughters. Candee was predeceased by her brother, Eli Terry Ives and sister-in-law Diane S. Ives and is survived by their children Kathryn and Joshua.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 16th at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich with reception to follow. Contributions in her memory can be made to Community Centers Inc. of Greenwich or First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich.
