The time has finally come. As we enter the beautiful summer weather, the annual Greenwich farmer’s markets begin, including both the Old Greenwich Farmers Market and the Greenwich Farmers Market, which are excellent places to purchase fresh and local produce.

Both markets are great places to find fresh, organic, and locally grown fruit and vegetables along with pastries and even locally made jewelry and books.

In attending these markets, you will be supporting local farms and small businesses. You will also meet who is growing your food all while providing you and your family with 100% organic and fresh produce.

“They [consumers] can ask personal questions about the vegetables and I can answer with honesty because I was there for every second of it, which I think is a very special thing in today’s world, where we don’t know a lot about where things are made or how food comes from wherever it’s coming from to our table,” stated farmer Levi Booker from Riverbank Farm and vendor at the Old Greenwich Farmers Market.

Nearly all vendors discussed the joy they find in selling their fresh produce and supporting the community, “Just being able to support local agriculture and to be a part of local agriculture I think is rewarding,” explained Nikki Glick from Seacoast Mushrooms at the Greenwich Farmers Market.

The Greenwich Farmer’s Markets opening day was May 14th and its final day for the season is November 19th. The market is held every Saturday from 9:30 AM to 1 PM at the Arch Street/Horseneck Lane Commuter Lot.

You may also order ahead by visiting the Greenwich Farmers Market website and order directly through each vendor to pick up your orders every Saturday.

To become a vendor, the farm must be registered with the Connecticut Department of Agriculture and have a 3M liability policy along with fees to the board of health and GFM. This market does not accept any artisan crafts. If interested in vending at the Greenwich Farmers Market, applications are accepted January through February.

The Old Greenwich Farmers Market first opened in 2010 and has grown immensely, now hosting a countless number of vendors. Each year they begin the market on June 1st and it is held every Wednesday from 2:30 PM to 6 PM on 38 West End Avenue, Old Greenwich.
If you are interested in becoming a vendor, email infro@oldgreenwichfarmersmarket.com with a description of who you are and what you would like to sell.
