Greenwich Biannual Resident Satisfaction Survey Results Now Available
Residents expressed high satisfaction with services provided by the Parks and Recreation Department and the Highway Division of the Department of Public Works. The survey also highlighted a need for improved communication between Town government and the community, especially in response to how residents prefer to receive information. Aquarion Water Co.’s Water Conservation Schedule Announced
Those with even numbered addresses may water only on Sundays and Wednesdays before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Those with odd numbered addresses may water only on Saturdays and Tuesdays before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Properties without an address number, watering is allowed only before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. on Sundays and Wednesdays.

How to Express Concerns Over Double Poles and Low Hanging Wires
1. Identify the street intersection and pole number and take a photo.
2. Call the utility. For electric (top wire) call Eversource 1-800-286-2000. For communications (bottom wires) call Frontier 1-800-921-8101. Make note of the date of call, person contacted and response.
3. Submit a complaint with PURA (the regulator) here: http://www.dpuc.state.ct.us/PURACAIU.NSF/RevWebIntake?OpenForm
4. Email a copy of the complaint with location and photos to pura.information@ct.gov or call 1-800-382-4586.

Major Bridge Construction Announced
Major bridge construction on Sound Beach Avenue Bridge will begin April 11. A temporary detour of Harding Road and Forest Avenue will be in effect from April 11 to July 1. Pedestrians will be routed through Binney Park during construction.

Stand For Osprey Nest Made
A new stand for the Osprey nest on Eagle Pond at Tod’s Point was installed recently. Mr. Tod had the Pond built as a bird sanctuary in 1905.

Christ Church Greenwich Packathon for Ukraine Huge Success
Christ Church Greenwich had over 225 volunteers helping with the Packathon for Ukraine this past Saturday, packing 36,000 meals to ship next week to Poland for Ukraine refugees.

Greenwich Police Remind Dog Owners About Leash Laws
At all times dogs must be kept on a secure leash less than ten (10) feet in length, and dog guardians must provide for the prompt removal of feces, should the dog defecate in said areas.

Dog Season is Over at Town Beaches
Dog season is officially over as of April 1st. No dogs are allowed on any beach in Greenwich, regardless of leash status.

Residents Want Spending On Schools, Not Bumpouts
Residents were against bumpouts at this past Monday night’s public hearing on the proposed 2022-23 municipal budget. Over the course of the almost 4 hour public hearing for the BET several speakers took issue with the proposed $2.8 million allocation for bumpout improvements at Greenwich Avenue and Arch Street.

Outdoor Dining Extended
Governor Ned Lamont announced this past Wednesday that he signed into law legislation allowing relaxed rules for outdoor dining to continue for at least another 13 months.

Riverside Garden Club Seeks Volunteers for Earth Day Event
The Riverside Garden Club is looking for volunteers to help them clean up Riverside Train Station on April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day. To RSVP, please send an email to riversidectgardenclub@gmail.com no later than Monday, April 19. If possible, bring a shovel, rake, pruners and gloves.

More Controversy Surrounding 8-30g Housing Developments
An 86-unit development has been proposed for the intersection of Brookridge Drive and East Putnam Avenue. The application is being submitted under the state’s affordable housing statute 8-30g, and 26 of the units will be Affordable per the state. The applicant plans to demolish a circa 1900 single family home and redevelop the property with a 5-story apartment building.

Greenwich Hospital Returns to P&Z with Updated Proposition
After Greenwich Hospital’s proposal for the new Smilow Cancer Center was denied by P&Z last August, Greenwich Hospital has come up with a new proposal taking into consideration concerns from both neighbors and the commission.

Finn Gallery Announces an Uncommon Planet
The Flinn Gallery has announced its 4th show of their 2021-22 season, An Uncommon Planet. The exhibition showcases the work of photographers, Jonathan Pozniak of New York City and Eric Seplowitz of upstate New York curated by Greenwich residents, Nancy Heller and Alexis Abram.

Board of Ed Votes on End of Year Calendar for 2021-22 School Year
The Board of Education voted on the end of year calendar during their meeting last Thursday night. Five weather-related incidents caused closures this year extending the end of school for GHS students to June 28. This late release date is an issue for students who have previously made commitments to jobs, camps, etc.
June 27 and 28, last two days of school at GHS. Both days will be early release days.
• June 24 is last day for everyone else, except 6th graders
• June 23 is the last day for 6th graders, who started school a day earlier than others this year
• June 23 is Greenwich High School graduation

Greenwich Coach Honored With SERC Equity Award
Valerie Bolling, an instructional coach in Greenwich Public Schools and a Stamford resident, is a recipient of the George A. Coleman Excellence in Equity Award virtually at the SERC’s Dismantling Systemic Racism: 2022 Conference on Race, Education & Success.

Girls Saved from Fire by Off-Duty Greenwich Firefighter
Off duty Greenwich firefighter Doug Howly helped save a girl from a fire in Waterbury on Saturday afternoon. He was driving to a birthday party in Waterbury Saturday afternoon when he noticed a fire in an apartment complex on Meriden Road and went to help.

Naming Rights for Properties Discussed
Last Thursday, the Board of Selectmen got its first look at a draft policy to establish procedures for granting of naming rights for town-owned properties and facilities. No further action was taken at this time. The board will be revisiting the policy in several weeks, allowing time for public feedback.

Car Stolen with Child Still Inside
Last Thursday, a car was stolen from Old Greenwich with a child under the age of 13 still inside. The car was found nearby in front of the Hyatt Regency Hotel with the child unharmed and still inside.

Funds for New Sexual Assault Program at Greenwich YWCA Left Out of ARP Budget
Funds for new sexual assault services at the Greenwich YWCA were left out of the planned spending for the American Rescue Plan money. Greenwich is expected to receive about $31 million. The YWCA requested $156,055 for a new sexual assault services program. When crafting final recommendations for the nonprofit organizations, the money was removed. If they had received this money combined with the $175,000 the YWCA will already be receiving from the municipal budget would have been close to a quarter of a million dollars, which was a point of contention for some officials.
