Berkshire 3, Brunswick 1

From Michael Kennedy

Berkshire          3

Brunswick         1

Brunswick lost its second straight game of the weekend, dropping a 3-1 decision to Berkshire on the olympic sheet in Sheffield, Mass., this afternoon.

It’s always a tough place to play — as proven by the Bruins’ still winless record on the road against the Bears in the short history of the series between the two schools. Games are always low scoring and reminiscent of the last one. Posts are rung. Heads look to the rafters. Nets come off the moorings as pucks are destined for twine.

And today was like Groundhog Day all over again.

The teams traded goals in the opening two periods — ’Wick’s came from junior co-captain James Shannon on a makeshift power play in the second — before the hosts notched the game-winner with seven minutes to go on a shot that hit a Brunswick skate and found its way into the net. They iced it with an ENG with 38 seconds on the clock.

Sticks have gone cold lately and we’ve hit a bump in the road. But spirits are up and we’ll keep pushing.

We’ll look to find our mojo again in practice on Monday and Tuesday as we prepare for a trip to Albany Academy on Wednesday.
