Dear Editor,
This past legislative session, Democrats in Hartford proposed a series of zoning bills that could have fundamentally changed the fabric of our 169 towns and cities. While some of the most problematic language was stripped and a more watered-down bill was eventually passed, Democrat lawmakers have pledged to work in future sessions to radically change our zoning regulations and give more power to Hartford – to bureaucrats and housing advocates who may have never stepped in your town.
While many Republican lawmakers including Rep. Kimberly Fiorello and State Sen. Tony Hwang worked earnestly to shine light on the content of the bad policies, Democrat legislators including State Sen. Alex Kasser, who holds a super majority in both chambers, never informed their constituents about the contents in these bills and how they could impact your town.
The question the residents of Greenwich, Stamford and New Cannan need to ask themselves is, do they want more radical and bad policies put forth by a single party, without opposition? It is time to expect better, and to want better from your legislators. Hartford needs a balance of power and we need a legislator who will always share the content of bills and reject bad policy that will negatively affect our local towns and cities.
I hope voters in the 36th district will vote for Ryan Fazio who is a forward-thinking, smart, and dedicated citizen volunteer who will always put his community first over party politics and bad legislation. He is the right choice.
