Giuseppe Socci, age, 89, left us to reunite with his beautiful wife on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Giuseppe was born in Settefrati, Italy on Sept. 24, 1931, a son of the late Domenico and Delicata (Tamburro) Socci. As a boy, Giuseppe apprenticed as a shoemaker in Pescasseroli, Italy. Becoming a wonderful craftsman, he started his own business in Settefrati. Later he traveled and spent 5 years in Venezuela to continue his craft. In 1957 Giuseppe married the love of his life, Angela Socci, and they started their lives first in Stamford, CT, eventually setting up residency in Riverside, CT. They started and ran Socci Shoe Center, side by side, for 41 years surrounded by their children and then grandchildren which brought him great joy. His happiest times were spent eating and celebrating with his family. He loved being with his friends and playing cards at the Settefratese Club of Stamford, and then at the Circlo Sportivo Inc. of Bridgeport. He enjoyed his summer respites spent in his hometown of Settefrati. His greatest gift to us was teaching us never to be afraid to take a chance, always work hard, and family means everything.
Giuseppe is survived by his daughter Cathy Osipow and her spouse Larry. His son Domenick Socci and his spouse Ornella. His son Anthony Socci and his spouse Linda. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Stephen and his spouse Allison, David, Julie, Joey, Regina, Tony, Angela, Mia, Gianna, and Isabella, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Frank, Marley and Brice, all who were truly his pride and joy. He was predeceased by a brother, Antonio Socci.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 28 in Trumbull, followed by entombment in St. John’s Cemetery, Norwalk.
