Here is the daily update from First Selectman Fred Camillo on the Town’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the needs of our residents.
To lead by example for social distancing, we are issuing electronic press updates every afternoon which will be followed with a teleconferencing opportunity for the media. The updates also will be posted on the Town website’s dedicated page (greenwichct.gov/covid19) for COVID-19 information. This page also includes links for residents to subscribe for emergency alerts.
Greenwich Hospital
As of Friday morning, Greenwich Hospital has tested 284 people in its outpatient collection station. Of those tested, 56 have returned positive. These people come from all over the state as well as Westchester County. As more testing is available, we will inevitably see more patients test positive.
Currently, there are 10 patients in the hospital who have tested positive. The hospital remains prepared and ready to treat any and all patients.
Please reach out to your doctor or healthcare facility if you have an upcoming appointment for the latest information on hours of operation and visitor restrictions. Many offices are now offering telemedicine services during this time.

Greenwich Police
The Police Department asks that if you are experiencing mild symptoms of illness and are not in a high risk group that you contact your personal physician rather than call 911. If you have mild symptoms, do not go to the emergency room before contacting your doctor for direction. If you have any serious symptoms, please do not hesitate to call 911. Please save 911 for real emergencies.
Department of Public Works
Given the goals of social distancing, please consider visiting the Holly Hill Transfer Station during the week, to help reduce the number of visitors to the site on Saturday. The Book Swap shed remains closed until further notice. Please do not leave book donations.
Parks & Recreation Department
The Department will not be issuing any field permits at the present time. Everyone is encouraged to practice social distancing at all times. There are no organized games or practices permitted at this time. People are allowed in Town Parks, but limitations are expected. Please convey this to any of your users who may want to do something on their own.
The Department hopes to have fields open as soon as it is safe to do so.
There will be additional Parks & Recreation staff and Police at Town parks and beaches this weekend to ensure visitors are adhering to social distancing guidelines, including not playing contact sports or organizing sports activities with more than five (5) people.
Greenwich Library
Greenwich Library staff is available to answer questions by phone and email Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Residents may visit the Digital Library for 24/7 access to eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, music, learning and more all available on the website.

The Bruce Museum Goes Digital

Commission on Aging
The Commission on Aging and The Greenwich Senior Center have been working with the faculty of Greenwich Country Day School to launch ‘Connecting Our Neighbors Naturally Enhancing Community Through Technology’ (CONNECTT).
CONNECTT offers both opportunities for participation in activities and classes, and the ability to enjoy regular/daily telephone chats from the comfort of your own home. Participants will be able to join in daily via telephone, computer, smartphone or tablet. Isolation is a challenge for us all and CONNECTT can make a big difference.
