As of Friday morning, Greenwich Hospital has tested 284 people, of which 56 have returned positive. Those who have been tested are not solely Greenwich residents; they are from all over the state as well as Westchester country.

There are currently 10 patients in the hospital who have tested positive.

“These numbers will go up… the sooner residents practice social distancing [and other precautions] the sooner we will be behind this,” First Selectman Fred Camillo stated.

Camillo also commented on requests from select members of the state legislature to institute similar Stay-In-Place orders as New York and California, saying “[Stay-In-Place order] is absolutely something we should be discussing. We’re not there yet, but we’re certainly open to that discussion. This is a National Health Emergency.”

The police department asks residents that if you are experiencing mild symptoms and are not in a high risk group to contact your personal physician rather than 911. Do not go to the emergency room unless you have serious symptoms. Please save 911 for real emergencies.

The Department of Parks and Recreation will not be issuing field permits at the present time.

Greenwich Library reminds residents to visit their website to access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and music at https://www.greenwichlibrary.org/

For those residents experiencing challenges with food, finances, and living arrangements, please call the Department of Human Services at 203-622-3800.
