Sick Raccoons Cause Tod’s Point to Close for Dogs

Tod’s Point (Greenwich Point Park) is closed to all dogs due to sick raccoons

For public safety and the safety of your pet dogs, Greenwich Point Park will be closed to all dogs, beginning Saturday, February 22, 2020. Health Director Caroline Baisley has issued the closure order after test results of raccoons found in the park revealed distemper within that population.

This closure will remain in effect until further notice. During the past couple of weeks, several dead or sick raccoons have been found in the park.

All dog owners should remember that when walking your dog, make sure that it is leashed and is under your control. Do not let your dog go near any dead or live wild animals. If you are walking and see a dead, sick, or distressed raccoon, do not touch or approach the animal. Please contact the Greenwich Public Safety Communications Center at 203-622-8004.
