Two Greenwich police officers were recently honored for keeping the town’s roads safe.

Master Police Officer Peter Schmidt and Police Officer Patrick O’Connor were recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for their work in curbing drunk and drugged driving in Connecticut.

Schmidt has now been honored by MADD three times, while this is O’Connor’s second recognition.

According to the Greenwich Police Department, on average in the United States, someone is injured every two minutes and someone is killed every 51 minutes by drunk or impaired drivers.
