

The Greenwich Art Society (G.A.S.) announces a special lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 5:30, at G.A.S., 299 Greenwich Ave., and Pop-Up Journal Painting Workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Northern Manhattan, both conducted by James L. McElhinney – visual artist, author, oral historian, and publisher.
On Oct. 10, McElhinney will present: Lecture: “Fieldbooks to Prints, Expeditionary Art.” Attendees will learn about how artists maintain a practice of exploring urban and rural landscapes through the use of fieldbooks and journals and how these images can be expanded into prints. Free for G.A.S. members, $20 for non-members.
Pop-Up, Journal Painting Workshop, “Parks and Vistas” will take place Oct. 16. Participants will learn watercolor and drawing techniques as developed in journals and sketchbooks of vistas and parks along the northern Manhattan coastline. Meet at entrance of 190th St. and Fort Washington subway station, NYC. Fee: $175.
