A quarter of a century young – still on a spiritual climb
It is the fall season and the St. Michael Women’s Association (SMWA) is off and running with its Annual Membership Drive. Each year, SMWA welcomes as members any woman who attends St. Michael The Archangel Parish Masses, Wednesday all-day Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Walking With Purpose Catholic Bible Study, Emmaus Retreats, or any other of the multitude of parish events hosted by St. Michael. Through the dynamic leadership of Parish Pastor Fr. Ian Jeremiah, along with his Associate Fr. Richard Murphy, St. Michael the Archangel Parish is witnessing a leap in growth, not only in their number of parishioners, but also in the community spirit that is so very tangible at St. Michael. Additionally, St. Michael The Archangel Parish is bursting with new excitement. Before long, the church itself will undergo a long overdue renovation with a completion date of December 2019, just in time for its beautiful Christmas celebrations.
The SMWA is a group of diverse women affiliated with St. Michael. It was started in 1992 and has since then annually brought to life its mission: to enrich spiritual, social and educational life as we strive to live the beliefs and values of our Catholic faith, to provide spiritual programs and community activities, and to provide scholarship assistance to young parishioners.
Roberta Chiappelloni is the current President of the Association, and she, along with 16 volunteer board members, put together the many events they host throughout the school year. Last year, the SMWA hosted a member-only Bingo night, and parish events such as two guest speaker breakfast presentations “Charity Begins at Home” and “Do We Truly Believe What We Pray In The Creed?”, the annual Christmas Luncheon, Annual Coat Drive, and a Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon. In addition to hosting such welcomed and well attended events, the SMWA also lends a hand with other parish-run events, such as the Youth Group Bake Sale, the Parish Thanksgiving Food Drive and the very successful annual Parish Christmas Party.

Membership dues of $30.00 are used to offset the cost of the association’s events and charitable efforts.
