
Elizabeth S. Hornbeck, 93, died peacefully July 22. A resident of Greenwich and Riverside for over 50 years where she raised her family and was active in civic and social organizations.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and a graduate of Case Western Reserve Univ., Betty was the first female stockbroker in Cleveland. She was a CPA in Greenwich for over 20 years. In the 1970s, she taught classes in small business and money management to women so they could gain their independence.
Betty was married to Marvin Flam for 21 years and has two children: Douglas Flam and Barbara Flam. Betty married Richard Hornbeck in 1983 and they enjoyed traveling the world. They were active members of Woodway Country Club in Darien.
Betty is survived by her brother, William Selden of Westport, son Douglas Flam of Trumbull, daughter Barbara Flam of Roswell, Ga., and two grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church, 108 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich. All friends are welcome.
