The Town of Greenwich, Department of Public Works, Engineering Division will begin drainage installation within Sound Beach Avenue between the MetroNorth railroad bridge and Sound Beach fire station driveway on, or about, July 9. The work involves installation of storm drain structures/pipes and roadway restoration on Sound Beach Avenue. The Contractor, FGB Construction Co., Norwalk, will be working between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, weather permitting. Materials and equipment will arrive between June 25 and July 3, and be staged in a fenced area.

The proposed construction is anticipated to last approximately six to eight weeks. Final restoration of pavement may occur outside of this window. All dates are dependent on the weather and any unforeseen complications.

The proposed work will mainly occupy the center of the roadway with northbound and southbound traffic being shifted into existing parking areas. Be advised that parking on Sound Beach Avenue will be limited throughout the duration of work. In addition, daily lane closures may occur and temporary traffic control devices will be installed to protect motorists and pedestrians. It is important for the safety of the public and the contractor’s staff that all pedestrians and drivers obey uniformed traffic personnel and all posted traffic control devices.

Residents are asked to be patient during this construction period. Anyone interested in obtaining further information can contact Jason Kaufman, P.E., Senior Civil Engineer, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. via phone at 203-622-3839 or via email at jason.kaufman@greenwichct.org
