This year marks the fifth annual “Prom Project,” a collaboration between the nonprofit Neighbor to Neighbor and Greenwich High School’s Former Attire Club. The event provides prom dresses and tuxedos at no cost to area high school students who may otherwise struggle to afford their high cost. In addition to floor length and cocktail length gowns and tuxedoes, Prom Project participants will be able to select shoes, accessories, and strapless bras. In 2017, over 100 dresses were given away during the three-day “pop up” event.
Donations of new or gently used gowns, tuxedoes and accessories such as jewelry and handbags are now being accepted at Neighbor to Neighbor, on the Christ Church Greenwich campus at 248 East Putnam Ave. Greenwich High School students may also donate at GHS.
The free distribution will take place on Thursday, April 5 and Friday, April 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Tomes Higgins House on the campus of Christ Church Greenwich, 216 East Putnam Ave. All students are welcome and are asked to bring a Student ID.
Former Attire Club co-Presidents Kate Piotrowski and Audrey Brandes are excited to work on this event for their third year. “The pop-up store has dressing rooms, music, refreshments and racks of donated new and gently used dresses. It’s the most rewarding and fun experience,” says Audrey.
