To the Editor:
In the debate over a ban on plastic bags, let’s remember that one of the most successful retail stores in the world does not use bags at all.
Head over to Costco and you will see what that looks like. No bags, plastic or otherwise are provided by Costco.
I understand that change can be difficult and the idea of changing the way we do things sends some people into a complete panic but this is not one of those times, really.
Just get rid of the bags. It will improve the environment and will save people from mindlessly thinking they need bags that they really, really don’t need.
Will businesses suffer? Ask Costco if they are suffering and let’s use a little common sense here.
