The Greenwich Public Elementary Schools have announced plans to welcome and register incoming – Fall 2018 – kindergarten children and their parents.
The process begins with a Kindergarten Orientation program for parents at each of the schools on Thursday, Feb. 22 (Snow Date: Feb. 23). Parents are then asked to make an appointment in March or April – depending on school-specific dates – for Kindergarten Registration to verify residency and register incoming Kindergarteners at their respective schools. In May, incoming Kindergarteners are invited to experience Kindergarten classrooms in their school on Kindergarten Visitation day – May 17. All schools will mail invitations for Kindergarten Visitation Day to families that have registered and/or are otherwise known to the schools as having incoming Kindergarten students. Parents/Guardians that have a child entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2018 who do not receive a letter from the school in their attendance area should contact that school office for information on this process. Children who turn five (5) on or before Jan. 1, 2019 are eligible for Kindergarten in the 2018-2019 school year.
Dismissal/buses for this year’s kindergarten classes will be at 12 p.m. on May 17.
Connecticut State Law and Greenwich Board of Education Policy require students attending and registering for Greenwich Public Schools to verify their residency in Greenwich, Connecticut. Families may verify residency at the registration appointment, however residency must be verified before registration can be completed. The documents required to verify residency with instructions for all types of residency are available on the Greenwich Public Schools website at greenwichschools.org/residency. Information will also be provided at Kindergarten Orientation on Feb. 22.
