GLT Invites Community to a ‘Blue Moon Hike’

On Jan. 31, there will be a lunar eclipse that involves the second full moon of the month, popularly referred to as a Blue Moon. Such a sky-watching event hasn’t happened for more than 150 years!

Come along on a medium-intensity moonlit hike, on Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. through one of Greenwich Land Trust’s most beautiful properties, Lapham Preserve. You will end up in an open field for smores and telescope viewing of the moon on the eve of the full moon and lunar eclipse. Astronomer Rick Bria, of the Astronomical Society of Greenwich will share his knowledge and answer questions.

Flashlights and snacks will be provided. Lapham Preserve is located between 85 and 95 Richmond Hill Road. Members pay $15 and non-members $30. Pre-registration is required. Sign up at gltrust.org/event/blue-moon-hike
