This time of the year, I am filled with hope for what the new year holds. Opportunities are endless, if I am able to set my mind away from fear and obstacles and focus instead on the excitement of newness and possibilities. There are so many gifts yet to open in the new year.

We all want 2018 to be our best year ever! Right? But what might that look like for you?

For me, my goals for the new year are to continue my research, tweak my diet and the nutrients I take in through foods and supplements, find more time for fitness, faith and fun, and continue to give back, volunteer and be thankful for the people and projects in my life.  Writing this column will continue to be a big part of my 2018, and I am thankful that the column allows me a pathway to give and share.  I am honored that the founders of The Greenwich Sentinel have afforded me such an amazing gift and an avenue to walk down with them each week; I am honored to be connected to their worthy mission.

Did you know that the newspaper was born of an idea to give the community a voice to allow it to grow and prosper, to connect us all in our faith, and to allow business owners to showcase what they do best, through business spotlights, online interviews and advertising?

The Sentinel has a huge heart for Greenwich!  The founders have given so much to launch their vision, and they have done so with grace and tenderness to benefit our community. The Sentinel has initiated conversation, exploration and even a foundation.  That foundation, now approaching year three, has raised funds to help and serve those who need it most.  The newspaper, based on the efforts of it’s small but very efficient team, operates as an organization that thrives on single donations and advertisers to make the magic of each issue happen.

As any business, looking at 2018, it too must find new pathways to keep the paper fluid and aligned with its original mission which is centered on preserving the Greenwich we know and love: a Greenwich where local businesses rely on and show support for one another, where not-for-profits count and thrive and fulfill needs and dreams, and where faith-based organizations are parked together allowing God to wash over us through the teachings that emanate from buildings where we gather weekly.

So, if you may allow me to diagnose the paper’s heart health, I would say that The Greenwich Sentinel is heart healthy, generous in spirit and pumping with positive messages each week , ending up in our mailboxes… like magic.

2018 is here…so how is your heart health?

I want mine to be seeking optimum wellness and overflowing with gratitude, so I am taking this time to say thank you to this paper, that has kindly allowed me to write this column and be a part of its family.  For that, I am forever changed and grateful.

As always, drink a nice, big organic green juice, take a vacation from your phones and devices for a day, or an hour each week, walk a new path, get to the gym, marvel at the sunset, surprise someone with a call or a visit, hug a friend tight and mean it, and give back to boost your heart health.  I encourage all of us to donate to this wonderful paper, The Greenwich Sentinel, on a regular basis, so we can let this amazing organization know how much we really care!

Thank you Beth, Peter and the team!
