Greenwich Town Hall to Close on Jan. 4 Due to Winter Storm

With the National Weather Service predicting several inches of snow to fall on Jan. 4 in blizzard-like conditions, Greenwich First Selectman Peter J. Tesei has announced that Greenwich Town Hall will be closed for business on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.

This announcement follows the Greenwich Board of Selectmen approving the imposition of a snow emergency and parking ban on Snow Emergency-designated streets.

“With this anticipated major snow event, one of our primary concerns is the safety of our employees,” said Tesei. “The National Weather Service is predicting heavy snow conditions with wind gusts of up to 45 mph, and extreme wind chill factors.”

“While this may impose an inconvenience to some residents, it is imperative that we ensure the safety of all — our employees and our residents,” Tesei added.

Greenwich Public Schools and several of the private schools in Town also have announced closures for Thursday, Jan. 4.

“As the storm progresses, we will continue to evaluate the situation in a timely fashion. We anticipate that Greenwich Town Hall will reopen for business at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. That said, please stay tuned for further announcements,” Tesei added.

Tesei added, “We thank you in advance for appreciating and understanding that we are putting Greenwich first with the safety of all of our employees and residents.”
