Mary Nancy McAfee, 76, a long time Greenwich resident, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with her loving family at her side on Aug. 17, 2017.
She was born in Granville, N.Y. on July 14, 1941 to the late William and Irene Paro (Voudry). She graduated high school in Granville, N.Y. before moving to Connecticut in 1959 to start her family and career. Nancy was a Certified Nurse’s Aide for most of her career and had the privilege of providing care to the elderly for over 40 years, including providing care to Dorothy Walker Bush.
Nancy was blessed with a large family and was devoted to them all. Nancy was a kind, generous and selfless person. Her family meant everything to her.
Nancy is predeceased by her sisters Maureen Appruzese, Ann Kimbell, Wilma Bouchard, Barbara Paro and a brother Robert Voudry. She is survived by her sister Susan Seaton. Nancy was predeceased by her daughter Catherine Schacht(Hyman) of Milford. Survived by her daughters Jacqueline Lewis (Eugene deceased) of West Haven, Barbara Raiente (Micheal, deceased) of Greenwich, Sandra Gasiorowski (John S.) of Shelton and Maureen Wood (Stanley) of Milford. Survived also by her grandchildren Glenn Halama Jr, Kevin Bruner, Steven Bruner (Michelle), Christopher Schacht (Ellen), Victoria Gasiorowski, John J. Gasiorowski, Ashley Capuano, Sabrina Wood, several beautiful great grandchildren who she cherished and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family is deeply grateful to the outstanding staff of the Stamford Hospital Emergency Room who went above and beyond to make Nancy’s last moments as peaceful as possible.
Visitation was held on Aug. 22, 2017 at Castiglione Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at Saint Catherine’s of Sienna Church, Post Road East, Riverside, CT. At request of the family Internment will be private.
