Scores of people of all ages gathered at Greenwich Hospital on Dec. 3 to create 110 cards during the American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign.

The annual campaign encourages people to send messages of thanks and holiday cheer to military members, veterans and their families. Among those attending the card-making party were area residents, Greenwich Hospital employees and their families.

“Everyone enjoyed creating the cards, which are being shipped to patients in Veterans Affairs hospitals nationwide and to active duty service members,” said Stacey Green, director of Volunteers at Greenwich Hospital, who worked with the American Red Cross to organize the event.

Christmas trees, snowmen and other holiday favorites adorned the cards with messages often echoed by the sentiment, “Happy Holidays. Thank you for your service.”
