The Connecticut Department of Transportation started its nighttime bridge maintenance project, which will be performed on several bridges on Interstate 95 until Dec. 16.

In Greenwich, the bridge that goes over Arch Street will be worked on, as will the Stamford bridge over Maple Street. The bridge maintenance project will affect both the Northbound and Southbound lanes.

The work began Monday night and will take place until Dec. 16. In addition to the bridges in Greenwich and Stamford, the Norwalk bridge over West Ave. and the Westport bridge under Hales Road will also be impacted. Motorists can expect lane closures on both I-95 Northbound and Southbound lanes between Exit 2 (Louden Street) and Exit 18 (Sherwood Island Connector).

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should also be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

The project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2016 bridge maintenance program to support state forces with bridge repairs and is being performed by Mohawk Northeast.
