In a ceremony, SilverSource board member Barry Coutant received the 2016 SilverSource Leadership Award. The award recognizes Coutant’s extraordinary support of the organization’s mission to ensure the quality of life, safety and independence of older adults.

“I’m grateful for the recognition and very proud to have served on the Board of SilverSource,” said Coutant.  “It has been an honor to be associated with an organization that is truly making a difference for the many disadvantaged seniors in our community.”

Coutant is the founding member of the Coutant Wealth Management Group in Greenwich, and has been named to Barron’s list of Top 1000 Financial Advisors in the United States since 2009. Barry and his wife, Carla, moved to Stamford in 2006 after living in Wilton for 25 years. Coutant is stepping down from the SilverSource Board as he moves his permanent residence to Florida.

A member of the SilverSource board since 2011, Coutant joined SilverSource after witnessing the work that was being done for those older adults who were less fortunate. He saw the daily impact the organization was having and felt compelled to get involved. “The sad reality is that there is a growing population of older adults that are barely getting by. Helping those that have no place to go and getting them back on their feet is what pulled me in,” said Coutant.

“This award recognizes the exceptional role that Barry has played in responsibly building and sustaining our organization,” said Kathleen Bordelon, Executive Director of SilverSource. “His counsel and leadership has helped propel SilverSource into becoming a leader in providing older adults with a sustainable path for well-being, and an advocate for the needs of the older adult community. We are grateful for his leadership and service.”
