Every child dreams of sitting behind the wheel of a fire truck, honking the horn of a dump truck or riding a roaming railroad. Those dreams became reality at the Junior League of Greenwich’s 16th annual “Touch A Truck!” This year’s event took place on Sunday, June 5 at Greenwich Town Hall. The rain did little to damper the spirits of the approximately 1,500 attendees.
Adults and children smiled through the raindrops and enjoyed 28 trucks and 8 food vendors. Traditional construction trucks, emergency and rescue vehicles, cherry pickers, and even fancy cars were among the vehicles on display. Families danced away the rain to the Bossy Frog Band and enjoyed bouncy castles from New England Bounce About, Filipo Sports and Entertainment, the Roaming Railroad and Roaming Raceway, Pinot’s Palette, SSDS Kung Fu, and Critter Caravan. New participants like East Coast R/C Monster Trucks, Green Moon, the Greenwich Audubon, and the Greenwich Public Schools Dare 2 Care program – Touch A Heart! joined in on the fun.
Touch A Truck! is the second largest fund-raiser for the Junior League of Greenwich and draws attendees from the community and beyond each year. Proceeds from the event benefit the League’s five community projects.
