For its last exhibit of the season, Les Beaux Arts Gallery will feature “Common Ground” by Richard Levine, painter of the American landscape. The show opens Sunday, June 12 and runs through Friday, July 8.
Levine finds inspiration in the natural world. “I am exploring the shared roots between geometric color field painting and the vernacular architecture of rural New England,” he explains. As for his use of medium, he says, “The ability to respond both instinctively and immediately has led to my current use of pastel, watercolor and gouache.”
Levine’s career has spanned more than 30 years in the graphic arts. He studied oil painting for 4 years with artists such as Alan Turner and has exhibited extensively on the East Coast.
Les Beaux Arts Gallery is located in the Round Hill Community Church, 395 Round Hill Road. The Gallery is open Sunday, 11 a.m. to noon; Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon; closed Saturday and Monday, July 4.
