Woman’s Club Gives Philanthropic Gifts

On March 17, The Woman’s Club of Greenwich held its Annual Philanthropies Tea to distribute awards to local Greenwich organizations and local scholarships. The club was founded in 1910 to bring together women to promote civic, philanthropic, and educational activities and exert a helpful influence in the community.

Every year, club members volunteer much time and effort to fundraising in order to reach out and help the community. Their efforts culminated by the distribution of financial awards at The Philanthropic Tea under the leadership of Nancy York, Vice President of Philanthropy, and Susan Tattar, Margaret Klumpp, and Nancy York, Co-Chairs of The Woman’s Club Gardeners.

The recipients of this year’s awards from The Woman’s Club of Greenwich were: Greenwich Scholarship Association, River House Adult Day Center, Call-A-Ride, Greenwich Campership Program, Greenwich Symphony, Young Peoples Concerts, Lions Low Vision Centers , Kids in Crisis, Neighbor to Neighbor. The recipients of this year’s awards from The Woman’s Club Gardeners’ were: Greenwich Community Gardens, Audubon Summer Campership Program, Greenwich Youth Conservation Project, Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Scholarship Program, The Putnam Cottage Herb Garden Maintenance.
